It always seems strange that Allardyce doesn't see what everyone else does re Cole and RVT. They are not premiership quality (even if CFC once was) and simply take up some potentially better players position on the pitch. It would be better to play a younger reserve - at least they would learn something from their time on the field.
BFS also showed intense frustration with RVT when he brought him on in a home game earlier this season, so why repeat the mistake?

Fair point, stewie son...

I thought that I was watching last season's team in the first-half... Everton were full value for their 1-0 lead (which I thought was offside, but there we are) and it was only a question of when they were going to score - and they eventually did...

Our changes early in the second-half really turned the game around in our favour and we certainly deserved a draw but the poor first-half team selection cost us dear...

The look on fat Sam's face said all you need to know about Vaz Te. That's why he sits on the bench most of the time.

Unfortunate to lose yesterday, but serves to highlight again how spectacularly good our summer business was.

Spurs, Southampton, Everton - all 3 with something resembling last year's team. We've lost all 3.

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
Jarvis did okay when he came-on... I'm not his biggest fan, by all means, but he had a go...

Vaz Te is Championship two bob stuff though... That cross into the stands sums him up at this level... Not up to it...

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
Zarate and Jarvis are both fit and could've started...

Zarate should've started, to give us some attacking threat, skill, pace, movement, creativity and possible goals...

Starting two up-front with CARTHORSE and Carroll was an awful decision as well...

Surely we could've also found a system to avoid playing CAPTAIN LARD ARSE as well?... I know that midfield options were short, especially, but still...

martyboy 10:04 Sun Nov 23
Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
Jarvis looked out of shape when he came on, and for a winger, he does not go around many defenders, looked short of pace, and confidence.

Incase you missed it, we had 5 players out. Who else would you have started baring in mind neither Jarvis or Zarate had kicked a ball for a month or more.

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
Allardyce does deserve criticism because that starting XI was simply awful - not far off the shitty, route-one, dull, pedistrian side that we were last season...

You're only going to play one way with the paceless, immobile, uncreative and technique-lacking trio of LARD ARSE Nolan, CARTHORSE Cole and Carroll (who's not even anywhere near full fitness)...

Re: Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-1
How the fuck anyone can blame Allardyce for this defeat is beyond me.

The man played the best available team he had and didn't start Jarvis or Zarate cos neither is match-fit after suffering injuries, plus the small matter of the fact the fella went into the game missing five of his first choice front six players and lost the other one just after HT.

We were in a Champions League spot going into the game and the man brought in 4-5 of the best signings this club has made in the last 10 years all in this summer window.

I blamed the man for everything under the sun last season and in all honesty he deserved it because IMHO he was far too pedestrian in the way he set-up our team and stuck to his so called philosophy of football.

The man changed his entire approach to the game and the way we were playing in one transfer window. We are nearly 1/3 of the way into the PL season and only one team has outplayed us in the 12 games so far. We've beaten Liverpool and Man City at home and came from 2 goals down in a game at Stoke that looked dead and buried. If you cannot see the transformation then there's something seriously fucking wrong with you.

The man deserves the credit along with the owners and the players for turning this around because before this Summer started I was sure either he was out or we were going down this year if he retained his job.

No that's Kevin running at full pelt!!

Just watched it on Sky. Can't believe the first goal stood and Barclay's dive was a disgrace but just as it looked like we were the victims Tomkins then embarrasses himself. After all the furore re Flores last year I hope Sam has a quiet word because I hate any player doing that let alone a Hammer.

The tackle I screamed at the TV for a sending off but having watched it again I think a red may have been harsh. It was late and a tad out of control but it wasn't two feet and have seen far worse. I suspect if Song had done that we wouldn't have thought it a red.

Unlucky in many ways to have lost but it shows how Sakho and Valencia get behind defences this season where with Carroll and Cole they can't do that. In fact I am trying to think of something dear old Carlton can do on a football pitch. Did he score last game? Maybe that's why BFS started him....

Unlucky to come away from Goodson empty handed.but considering the options not too bothered.
Need three points against Newcastle next week to keep the momentum up.

Been a long time since I've seen a substitute come on and have the sort of effect Zarate did today. For about 20 minutes he was superb and almost single handedly was responsible for our revival second half.

Gutted with the result but it happened because we were pushing for the win with the momentum we had found which is what I'd rather see than sitting back and holding on for a point. We were all over them after the equaliser and were unlucky to give away possession and lose it on the break, but that's what happens. Could have easily gone the other way, it was that finely balanced.

What is clear is that Carroll and Cole are not a viable option. We went from having one of the league's quickest attacks to the slowest overnight. Our success this season has owed a lot to a high tempo attacking game that these two aren't cut out for. And as for Nolan? Complete passenger.

Amalfitano is a really decent little signing. Cresswell superb again apart from a couple of wayward passes.

All in all, gutted at the result, but second half we gave them a good go. Had far worse days out.
